“Tailor the therapy to the person.”

Hello, my name is Samantha Ireland and I am an integrative counsellor, officially accredited by the BACP. I specialise in integrative counselling, solution focused brief therapy and tailor my approach to suit every individual client for the best outcomes. As well as this, I have years of experience with motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioural therapy, techniques which are clinically proven to assist with a whole host of emotional obstacles. I am currently a counsellor for the NHS.

What problems can I help you with?

The range of issues I have experience with includes: anxiety, depression, substance misuse and recovery, trauma, self harm, mental health, abuse, and bereavement. In addition, I can also assist with any barriers in your life that are preventing you from reaching your full potential (such as weight issues, smoking or other general problems). I have an empathetic, genuine approach to counselling and many past clients have held this in high regard as a crucial part of why they were able to be so successful following their therapy.

You’re in experienced hands.

I started training as a counsellor back in 2004, taking the CPCAB (Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body) route to counselling qualifications. I gained both a Level 2 and Level 3 award from CPCAB, qualifications which many counsellors lack. From there, I progressed into studying integrative therapy at university and intensively studied Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. Within the NHS, I have over nine years of experience as a nursing assistant, specialist services member and now as a counsellor. I am also fully accredited by the BACP.

Working in care sectors for a number of years is where I have gained critical experience dealing with patients on psychiatric wards and secure services. I also have years of voluntary work experience with a recognised substance misuse company, counselling vulnerable people suffering from addiction to drugs and alcohol.

Recognised and insured.

I am an individual member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy), as well as the CPCAB. These accreditations are hugely important as they are evidence of the hundreds of hours I have spent with patients, treating them ethically and within the confines of a rigidly-tested, nationally recognised framework. I am fully indemnity insured and also carry public liability insurance.
